Experienced Leadership
A history of leadership. Joining the United States Marine Corps after High School and being giving leadership roles as a young man I was giving the tools to lead. After the Corps I went on to be a leader in every aspect of my life whether it be running a kitchen as a chef or organizing my logistics team to meet the needs of an ever-changing supply chain. I have also served my community as a City Councilman being elected for multiple terms. I have also been involved and am very passionate about clean water commissions in Iowa. I have worked with rural housing and development in eastern Iowa. I am serving on the East Central Iowa Convention of Governments Board.
Ending Eminent Domain Abuse
As many of you know, Iowa is facing a major hurdle with eminent domain abuse in our state. A carbon pipeline is proposed to be built taking the land of our farmers and giving it to a private company. Iowa has had a bill that passed the House and Senate that would effectively end the abuse that is poised to hurt the livelihood of our agricultural community. I am going to reintroduce that bill and SIGN IT to end the abuse of our property rights in Iowa.
Fixing Our Education
When I was going to school here in Iowa we were number one in the nation for education. Since then we have fallen to number 26 in the nation. Many people I have spoken to moved to Iowa for their children to have the benefit of our top of the nation schools. They now are having concerns about how far we have fallen thus costing the state new arrivals. We have found through many attempts that finance isn't the problem. We need to gather the teachers of the state and I mean the teachers, not the bureaucrats, not the administration staff but the teachers specifically to the capital and ask them what they need us to do as a state to bring our education system back to the top.
Property Taxes
The property tax system in Iowa needs to be completely overhauled. Instead of a property tax system based on a county assessor my plan involves setting the tax off of the last fair sale purchase price of the home or property. Setting the tax off of the sale price at least means the value you are being taxed on is an amount that the property could reasonably be sold for if you desired to do so. You know that because it is a number you as the buyer have already agreed on when you bought the property. This will also clear up a lot of the administrative hassle of finding what is owed on the property for taxes as it will be a set amount!
Clean Water for Iowa
The waterways in Iowa have been ignored for far too long. My plan to fix this is to use pre-existing infrastructure to improve water quality and remove impurities that have been lowering our water quality. By moving money that already exists in the state budget into filtration and monitoring we can have clean and navigable water in Iowa again. The system already exists in other states that proactively saw this problem years ago and in some cases decades ago, we will use similar systems to fix our water situation and restore our water quality.
End AI surveillance
I will put a permanent end to AI monitoring systems that are a direct affront to the fourth amendment rights of all of us living in the United States. Cities have been conned into signing contracts with FLOCK to set up AI tracking systems that monitor the movement of anyone traveling through their streets. Other systems like the Palantir AI monitoring system are also being used to track and target citizens. These systems are already illegal by federal law but lapses in judgment by federal, state, county, and city leaders have allowed them to be used to violate our rights. I will permanently remove the ability of these systems to be used by any government authority in the state so people can feel safe traveling on public roads without the fear of their every movement being tracked, stored, and monitored.
Cannabis
I support a full decriminalization of cannabis and cannabis derivative products. Iowa has lost millions of dollars in revenue to surrounding states because Iowa has waited far too long to allow the sale of cannabis products. With Iowans being nor further than a quick drive to another state to purchase the goods they desire it is a waste to not allow the sale here as well. There is also far too much research into the positive medical effects of cannabis for it to be ignored any longer. Many people I know personally use cannabis products to deal with chronic pain issues or with mental instability caused from PTSD or other disorders. Some use it just to sleep better. Whatever their reasoning they should be allowed to purchase in the state of Iowa instead of giving our money to other states.
